Thankful

A Modest Proposal IIThe food has been cooked and eaten, the leftovers have been put away, and the kitchen has been cleaned. A big pot of turkey stock is bubbling away on the stove and the house feels very home-y. All of the holiday festivities are over, but the thankfulness remains. This year, even more than previous years, I am very thankful.

I'm thankful that I can share my life with such a wonderful husband and such great kids. I am thankful for my loving and supportive family and friends. I'm thankful that I have a job and a roof over my head and more than enough creature comforts. I'm thankful for everyone's continued good health. But, most of all, I'm so very thankful that there was a happy, healthy baby sitting next to me during dinner, trying mashed potatoes for the first time and trying to decide if he liked them or not. A year ago today I was six months pregnant and just starting to have the problems that were the forerunners of Max's early arrival. It seems like a lifetime ago. But we weathered that year, and here I sit and count my blessings. Thankful.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.
