Holy S#@% Batman!

Having the stomach flu is bad. Having a toddler with the stomach flu is much, much worse. Poor Max is having a rough day. He got up this morning, picked at his breakfast, and then promptly threw it up all over the floor. Thankfully, he was standing next to me while I was sitting at the computer, so he puked all over the plastic chair mat and not the carpet (thanks Max!). I was holding Molly at the time, so I had her in one hand and was holding on to Max with the other hand (so he didn't run off the mat), trying to comfort him. I couldn't put Molly down one handed and I couldn't let go of Max without having him run through the puddle of vomit. I managed to let go of him quickly, put Molly down in the Pack and Play, and then carry him to the kitchen so I could strip him down on the tile.

I went and woke up Dad (who had been feeling unwell all night) so he could put Max in clean clothes while I cleaned up the floor. I hadn't even made it down the stairs before I heard Dad in the bathroom tossing his cookies too. Ahh, all this before 7:30 a.m.! Max worked his way through several sets of clothes today -- although he didn't throw up again, he had raging diarrhea. I'll spare you the gory details and just say that Max had to have several baths and I'm doing some extra laundry. To try to keep him resting and still, Max got to watch a Baby Einstein marathon, which he enjoyed. I put him to bed early tonight and I'm hoping that he'll be feeling better tomorrow. Dad was in rough shape earlier today, but seems to be on the mend this evening, so hopefully Max will follow suit.

So far I just have a milder version of it (*knock on wood*) -- I feel yucky, but I can still function. Molly seems to be fine, although her day normally consists of puking and blowing out diapers. ;)

I'm so sorry! It's not fun for anybody, but it's even worse with a little one who totally doesn't understand what's going on! When Toby had it in November, he just had this horribly puzzled, scared look on his face whenever he puked. When Ellie was that age and she got it, she kept trying to run away whenever she puked...not cool!

I hope you guys are on the mend...quickly!

From another mother who spent the majority of her day cleaning up diarrhea: I hope things clear up for you all soon!
