I've discovered the perfect recipe for a deliriously happy little boy -- take one lake, a beach full of sand, some cheese puffs, a toddler-sized bottle of juice, a pinata, a few lollipops, a swing set, a bunch of kids, a couple of friendly dogs, and some attentive adults. Add one 2 1/2 year old boy. Mix well and let the fun begin! If the amount of dirt on one's person is directly proportional to the amount of fun one has had, Max must have had a rollicking good time this weekend!

We went to a friend's annual lake party -- tons of people, kids, and food. You can't go wrong there! It was nice to get out and about -- Molly was a little angel (and even let me pass her off to a few people so I could get a break and they could get in some baby snuggles) and Max had a blast. He got to take a swing at his first pinata (he didn't know what to do with it) and was able to take a little ride on a jet ski (he was "all done" about 30 seconds after the ride started). Mom and Dad even got to take a few turns around the lake together!

Once we got Max's swimsuit on, we couldn't get him out of the water. He'd run out and say, "More wah wah (water)" and then wade right back in. He probably spent over an hour just running in and out of the lake. We literally had to drag him out and over to a picnic table so we could try to get him to eat some dinner. You know some fun is being had when he is too busy to even eat a hot dog (which he usually loves). He did, however, take time to eat some cake. :P
We kept the babies up way past their bed time, but in spite of the fact that they must have been exhausted, they were very good on the way home. After a quick bath, we popped them both in bed, were they quickly fell fast asleep. After all that excitement and the late bedtime, you'd think they'd sleep in the next morning ... no chance! ;)
