Today is Molly's adjusted age birthday -- it's the anniversary of her
original due date and the day she should have been born if she hadn't decided to sneak in six weeks early. Although Max's second first birthday was a big deal, I actually almost forgot about Molly's! Since we have never really needed to use her "preemie credit," her adjusted age status isn't always foremost in our minds. Max seemed so much younger on
his second first birthday, but it's probably just because he was our first baby. Then again, it might have something to do with the fact that Molly is about five pounds heavier than he was at this point! Molly has her 12-month well baby checkup next week (yes, a month and a half late due to a scheduling gaff), so we'll get some official height and weight stats then.

Aside from a walk to the park, we didn't do much to commemorate the occasion. We did make Max and Molly some baked beans and toast for dinner, which they both love. Mom never loves cleaning up after that dinner, because baked bean sauce gets everywhere! And, if you can't get the washcloth to the babies fast enough, the sauce permanently adheres to their skin. I can wash their hands and faces several times and I'm still finding hidden caches of sauce hours later. I usually try to plan baked bean dinner to coincide with bath night, but this time I wasn't so clever. Since Molly's latest mealtime trick is to grab handfuls of her hair in both of her (very messy) hands, I probably won't make that planning mistake again soon!

Molly, you may not *need* the preemie credit, but at least use it to get yourself another birthday cake!
Happy Second First Birthday!
