Crabby Normal

Brave SmilesI guess we can tell the gypsies to hold off -- everyone got a decent night's sleep and is feeling much better (although Operation Sleep was a total wash last night). We've now returned to normal levels of crabbiness. ;) Molly still seems a little cranky, but she was mostly her happy, sparkly self today. Max, once again, was 2, with all the emotional ups and downs that the age implies! As a nice Thanksgiving treat, I got off work early today and was able to spend a little extra time with M&M before they were herded off to bed.

I think I need to rethink my Christmas shopping list for Max and Molly -- they seem to have infinitely more fun with "found" playthings. This evening's entertainment consisted of blowing soap bubbles (made of dish soap and water) through a makeshift wand, blowing up a balloon and letting it fly around the room as the air escaped, and playing some elaborate chase game with rules that only Max seemed to understand. The bubbles were the biggest hit and even Molly was begging for more bubbles ("mah bahbs") when we finally had to stop. Max thought it was great fun to try to pop them with his finger ... at least until he figured out that it was hysterically funny to try to catch them in his mouth. The bubbles were a good excuse to have Max and Molly practice taking turns -- they each got a turn to pop a round of bubbles, while the other one waited. They actually did really well, especially Max (patience is not always his strong suit).

After all the excitement, both kids fell asleep quickly and kindly left Mama to her Thanksgiving preparations. It just doesn't feel like Thanksgiving to me unless I at least make a couple of pies, so I'm always in the kitchen the night before Thanksgiving, no matter what our actual dinner plans are. And, I must say, that there isn't anything that makes the house smell better than a homemade apple pie baking away in the oven. Cheers to all -- I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
