When Max was little we always said "excuse me" to him whenever he burped (or farted) and whenever we needed to squeeze by him. As a result, he always says excuse me when he wants to get by or when he burps or lets loose a volley of "buttcrackers" (as we call them ;). The latest little boy entertainment at our house is to pretend to burp and then laugh uproariously as he excuses himself. Of course, little miss "monkey see, monkey do" has to get in on the action and will also make burping noises and try to say excuse me. Max apparently has set an example in more positive ways as well -- this morning, after Molly had her morning milk, she was snuggling next to me in bed when she let out a loud fart. She cracked one sleepy eye, chirped "excuse me," and rolled over and went back to sleep. What a little lady! ;)
