Under the Weather

Double SpoutsUgh, I woke up this morning with achy muscles, swollen glands, and a bit of a sore throat. Since nobody else at home is sick, I suspect that my body is trying to fight off the latest plague that is making the rounds at work. Although it isn't any fun to spend your weekend being sick, at least I have the hope of being able to squeeze a nap in somewhere. It can also be a bit of a challenge to take care of two little ones when the only thing you feel like doing is curling up on the couch! It doesn't help that Molly has been super needy and fussy for the last few days -- I hope she isn't catching something herself. She didn't sleep well last night, and the lack of sleep hasn't improved either of our moods.

But, come mid afternoon we were all getting a little stir crazy -- it was too wet and cold to go outside and Molly and Max had some energy to burn. So, I got everyone suited up and strapped into their car seats and we decided to take a little ride. I had some library books and DVDs that I had to return and I had planned a brief trip past the drop box. But, as soon as Max saw me load the pile of books in the car, he got all excited and started yelling, "librardee! librardee!" So, against my better judgement, we returned our books and went inside so Max and Molly could spend a little time playing with the toys in the children's section, sitting on every child-sized seat they could find, and terrorizing the patrons.

BusyWe took a little ride and then came home so I could start dinner. You know you really aren't up to parental snuff when you'll let the kids do just about anything as long as they aren't fighting or whining. Max managed to snake an orange off of the counter and he and Molly had a blast playing with their new "ball." Normally I don't let them throw fruit around the house, but the orange was destined for the trash anyway (it had seen better days) and they were really having a blast. And, as they hurled it at the wall and rolled it on the floor, it left a wonderful orangey fragrance in the air. Lets hope I feel better tomorrow or the avocado on the counter might not stand a chance. Guacamole anyone?
