Molly had her 18-month well baby check up today. We ended up canceling our 15-month appointment after we discovered that we'd hit our insurance max for preventative care (boo, hiss to the insurance company). Since Molly was doing just great and we didn't have any concerns, we figured she could skip another reaffirmation of her pleasantly plump status. For some reason I thought she was due for a final round of vaccinations, so I've been loading her up with vitamin C all week. I happily surprised to discover that she was up to date on all of her shots (aside from the optional ones that we don't do) and shouldn't need any more until kindergarten. Hooray! I think Molly and her roly-poly little thighs were probably even happier than I was! It seems I'd loaded her up on vitamin C all week for nothing.
Miss Molly weighed in at 25 pounds, 13.8 ounces and was 32 1/2 inches tall. Her head circumference was 18 1/2 inches. We actually had to take her height twice – the first time she was being uncooperative and the measurement came back way too low. That puts her at 75% for weight, 80% for height, and 60% for head circumference – she's finally taller than she is fat! ;) The doctor's comment about her weight gain leveling off was, "I've been waiting for this to happen!" The rest of her checkup was unremarkable – everything looked great and she's doing everything on the 18-month developmental checklist and then some (except maybe sleeping through the night ...). Molly wasn't too happy that she had to sit on my lap during the whole trip – she really wanted to get down and run around and check out everything (which isn't an option when you're half naked in a germy doctor's office).

She also knows that she's a big girl now and she doesn't want me to carry her out of the office and through the parking lot – she wants "more down!" I let her walk out to the car, but she must have thought she was going for a real walk because she was not happy about having to go back into her car seat. At least the doctor's office is only about a mile from our house and I didn't have to endure the shrieks of Molly rage for very long!
