Molly seems determined to show up her big brother and has been having some great success on the potty over the last couple of weeks. She's peed on the potty at least a couple of times a day for the last two week and even pooped on a couple occasions. What is even more impressive is that about half of the time she comes to us and tells us that she has to "go pee pee." She plunks her chubby little baby bottom down on the potty, gets a really serious look on her face, and visibly "tries." She gets so excited about the pee in the potty that she usually stops halfway through and insists that we go flush the pee. She squeals with glee as we run to the bathroom, flush, and head back to the potty. She'll almost always sit down again and finishes the job (and then we go back to the bathroom and flush the second installment).

As if this wasn't awesome enough, Molly upped the ante over the weekend. We had over 48 hours of totally dry diapers – including overnight and during naps!!! We also convinced Molly to start using the potty seat insert that fits over the real potty, saving us countless trips back and forth to empty the little potty chair. When Molly woke up on Sunday morning, one of the first things she asked for was to wear her "big girl underwear" (cloth training pants). All of the running back and forth to the bathroom is wearing Mom and Dad out, but we know that short-term inconvenience will lead to some serious long-term gain.

Molly is very proud of herself and loves all the cheers and attention. Max, instead of being jealous, is totally supportive of Molly's potty efforts. He cheers for her, insists on inspecting the contents of the potty, and always accompanies us for the flushing ceremony. After the deed has been (thoroughly) completed, we usually let Molly run around half naked (or entirely naked) for a little while. She's always loved running around in the buff and it's so funny to watch her tear around the house in her birthday suit.
So, it looks like we might have one kid out of diapers soon … just not the one that we expected! I'm still hoping something will just click for Max one day and he'll figure out this whole potty business. He's probably still up to his old preemie tricks – holding out on a developmental milestone until we start to get worried and then mastering a skill virtually overnight.
