Max had his first day of preschool today. He was so excited and talked about it all morning. I had a hard time getting any good pictures of him at school, because all he wanted to do was beeline to his classroom (and ignore that pesky Mama with the camera). He walked in, said hi to his teacher, and he and Molly made a beeline for the playdough table. Max didn't blink when we said goodbye and left, but Molly really wanted to stay and play with all the fun toys. I think Molly had a harder time of it than Max did -- while he was at school she kept asking where he was and saying, "I want my Max."

When we came to pick him up, he was sitting at a table with the rest of the kids eating snack -- he looked so big sitting there. He didn't even seem all that glad to see us -- he was too busy trying to charm another little boy's mom into letting him mess with her camera. He did have a bit of that "deer in the headlights look" when we came to collect him -- I think he was really tired. He told us all about his day and he already said he wants to go see Mrs. P- (his teacher) again. When we went to orientation, only four boys total (including Max) were signed up for Pre-3. As it turned out, the class size has already grown from the original four boys to eight kids (with at least three little girls now), so I'm happy about that.

I have to say, it was totally weird to drive away from the school, knowing that I had _left_ my little boy behind. He's never been in the care of anyone except Dad, myself, and the grandmas -- it was hard to leave and trust someone else to look after him. I'm so glad he did well and enjoyed his first day. Preschool apparently wore him out, though -- I put both kids in bed before 7 and didn't hear a peep out of them for the rest of the night. *sniff* My baby is growing up too fast! I can't believe we'll be sending Molly off to school next year!
